iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max Prices in Singapore (2019)

iphone 11 singapore price

I’m so tired of the whole iPhone hype — have people not switched out from Apple yet?!

News of the newest iPhone models just dropped, and as with every third quarter of the year, Apple fans are in a frenzy. This time, they’re drooling over the latest iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

It’s the first time the Apple smartphone range is getting the “pro” label, which was previously reserved for their computers and tablets.

Coming as another surprise is that this year’s prices are cheaper than last year’s. While the iPhone 11 Pro prices match the iPhone XS series from 2018, the iPhone 11 prices are lower than that of the iPhone XR.

iPhone 11 & iPhone 11 Pro Singapore release dates, prices and more (2019)

Storage capacity  iPhone 11  iPhone 11 Pro  iPhone 11 Pro Max
64GB $1,149 $1,649 $1,799
128GB $1,219
256GB $1,289 $1,889  $2,039
512GB $2,199 $2,349

The iPhone 11s will hit our shores next Friday, on 20 Sep 2019, but the local telcos are already starting to release their contract prices and take preorders for it. More info on that below.

TLDR;

  • The 2019 iPhone 11 is cheaper than 2018’s iPhone XR.
  • Only iPhone 11 comes in 128GB, and only iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max come in 512GB.
  • iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the higher end models, with better technical specifications. However, both models run on the same A13 bionic chip processor.
  • Prices have been released and preorders are open for all 3 telcos.
  • You can trade-in your old iPhones for up to $840 (Apple store) or $600 (telcos).
  • iPhone battery replacement services are priced at $75 to $99.

iPhone 11 price in Singapore — from $1,149, 10% cheaper than last year’s iPhone XR

As usual, Apple launched 2 main models — the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. Surprisingly though, the price of the lower tier iPhone 11 is cheaper than last year’s iPhone XR.

Capacity  iPhone 11 (2019) iPhone XR (2018)
64GB $1,149 $1,229
128GB $1,219  $1,299
256GB $1,289 $1,469
512GB

They come in the same storage capacities, and all 3 models — 64GB, 128GB and 256GB — are about 10% cheaper this year.

That’s kind of big news, because Apple iPhones hardly ever get cheaper. If anything, they maintain the same price point (which, considering inflation, can be considered as slightly cheaper too).

iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone Pro Max prices in Singapore — from $1,649, same as last year’s iPhone XS

Capacity  iPhone 11 Pro  iPhone 11 Pro Max
64GB $1,649 $1,799
128GB
256GB $1,889  $2,039
512GB $2,199 $2,349

The most obvious thing here is that the iPhone 11 Pro models don’t come in 128GB. They do, however, come in 512GB, which is HUGE.

Although, seeing as most telcos offer giant data bundles for us to stream media, I don’t see what else we would need such local storage space for anymore. Personally, I stream movies and dramas on Netflix and save all my photos, videos and documents on an online cloud.

Other than storage, there are quite a few more differences between the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro in terms of technical specifications.

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro vs iPhone 11 Pro Max — 7  key differences

The iPhone 11 series has a few upgrades from last year’s iPhone XS models. Everything from the cameras to the displays to the processors are improved. But how different are iPhone 11s? Given the price difference, is it worth it to get the iPhone 11 Pro?

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max tech specs

iPhone 11 iPhone 11 Pro  iPhone 11 Pro Max
Colours  White, black, green, yellow, purple and red in an aluminium finish  Gold, space grey, silver and midnight green in a stainless steel finish
Capacity  64GB, 128GB and 256GB 64GB, 256GB and 512GB
Chip  A13 Bionic chip, third-generation neural engine
Rear camera  Dual 12MP ultra wide and wide lenses  Triple 12MP ultra wide, wide and telephoto lenses
Front camera 12MP TrueDepth camera
Video recording  Up to 4k video recording at 60fps
Weight  194g 188g 226g
Screen  6.1-inch 5.8-inch 6.5-inch
Battery  1 hour longer than iPhone XR  4 hours longer than iPhone XS 5 hours longer than iPhone XS

Here are 7 of the key differences:

1. iPhone 11 Pro has 3 instead of 2 rear camera lenses

This is perhaps the most-talked-about one. The iPhone 11 features a dual camera like the iPhone XS, except ultra wide and wide (instead of wide and telephoto). It’s a slight upgrade, but insignificant compared to the iPhone 11 Pro, which now has 3 instead of 2 lenses (ultra wide, wide and telephoto).

The front cameras are the same (12MP TrueDepth).

2. iPhone 11 Pro has a slightly longer battery life

The annoying thing about Apple is that they don’t like to tell you the exact battery capacity of your iPhones. They give you weird estimates of the battery life, this time, comparing it to the previous models.

The iPhone 11 has the shortest battery life, and is expected to last just an hour more than the iPhone XR.

The iPhone 11 Pro is significantly better, at 4 hours longer than the iPhone XS. The iPhone 11 Pro is the best, at another hour more than that.

The 3 run on the same A13 bionic chip and have similar specs, so I assume the main factor affecting battery consumption would be the display. If that’s true, then the iPhone 11 Pro is the most efficient, because it has the smallest display but mid-tier battery life.

3. iPhone 11 Pro has a better display

The iPhone 11 Pro has a Super Retina XDR 5.8-inch (or 6.5-inch, for 11 Pro Max) OLED display. The iPhone 11 only has a Liquid Retina HD 6.1-inch LCD display.

Both are sharper and more vivid than the previous models, which are already very good. So unless you have super duper powerful eyesight… I don’t think this one matters that much.

4. iPhone 11 Pro is smaller and lighter

As with the XR and XS, the iPhone 11 is sized in between the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch display, and is 194g. The iPhone 11 Pro’s screen is only 5.8 inches, and it weighs slightly less at 188g. That makes the iPhone 11 Pro the smallest model of the 3.

Of course, as its name suggests, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is the largest (6.5-inch display, 226g).

5. iPhone 11 Pro doesn’t come in 128GB, and iPhone 11 doesn’t come in 512GB

As mentioned above, the 2 models come in slightly different storage capacity models.

Personally, I feel that 128GB is just about right because 64GB is a tad small, but that option is only for iPhone 11.

If you want to get the iPhone 11 Pro (and need more than 64GB), you’re forced to jump 2 tiers up, to 256GB. That means paying more too.

If you need to store your entire life’s worth of stuff locally and offline, then go for the 512GB iPhone 11 Pro models.

6. iPhone 11 Pro looks fancier

The cheaper iPhone 11 comes in 6 colours, and in an aluminium and glass finish. The hues include the classic black and white, but also (quite tacky) shades like purple, green, yellow and red. Put bluntly, it looks cheaper lah.

The iPhone 11 Pro has a more luxe look and feel, thanks to the stainless steel + matte glass design. It comes in the usual silver, space grey and gold colours, but have a new midnight green addition to the family.

The dark green is the favourite so far, and I anticipate it selling out faster than you can whip out your card.

7. iPhone 11 Pro is slightly more water resistant

The final difference is in terms of water resistance. The iPhone 11 can go up to 2 metres for 30 minutes, while the iPhone 11 Pro can go up to 4 metres for 30 minutes.

I think that’s more than enough. When are you ever going to go swimming with your phone? Never right?

At worse, you might drop your Apple baby into the toilet bowl, in which case, 2 metres is should be sufficient. Ummm, and don’t leave it in there for more than 30 minutes.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro prices at Singtel, Starhub and M1

All 3 telcos have opened preorders and released their iPhone 11 prices. Generally, the prices are quite competitive — we’ve found that the cheapest telco will depend specifically on which contract plan tier and iPhone 11 model you’re interested in.

For the full price list, refer to this article: Singtel, Starhub and M1 iPhone 11 Prices (2019) — Which Telco Is The Cheapest?

Over there, we list all the prices for all the models at all the telcos. We also do some calculations to see if it’s more worth it to buy the device on its own, or sign up for a 2-year contract (especially those $0 free iPhone plans!).

iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro prices on Lazada

If you shop on Lazada, you’d know that they have a LazMall category of official merchants that sell authentic products through the platform.

Yup — you guessed it. You can get the iPhone 11 on the Apple LazMall store t00. Although they’re (obviously) going for the same retail prices stated above, there are some perks and promotions you can take advantage of to squeeze out a little bit of savings:

  1. LiveUp members get 4% rebate.
  2. DBS Live Fresh cardholders can get $50 off min. $1,000 purchases. (Note: You’ll need to collect a voucher on the site, limited redemptions available).
  3. DBS and OCBC credit cardholders can choose to pay in 0% instalments.
  4. First 200 customers who buy before 10am on 20 Sep (the launch date) will receive their phones before noon on the same day.
  5. Everyone who buys it on 20 Sep will get their phones within the same day too.

Apple and the telcos’ trade-in programmes

This makes little sense to me, because if your older iPhone is able to fetch good trade-in value (i.e. it’s in good physical and working condition), then you shouldn’t be clamouring to trade it in for the new iPhone 11.

I’d love to list the trade-in prices for all the iPhone models, but sadly, the Singapore Apple store requires users to key in their device’s IMEI Number (just dial *#06# to retrieve it) to find out. It only states “up to $840”, which I assume is for the iPhone XS Max (512GB).

That sounds promising, because it’s more than the $600 the local telcos are offering:

Apple iPhone model Starhub trade-in price  Singtel trade-in prices M1 trade-in price
iPhone XS Max $600 $600 $600
iPhone XS $600  $600  $600
iPhone XR 128GB and 256GB $600   $600   $600
iPhone XR 64GB $550   $500 $500
iPhone X  $600  $600 $600

However, I checked the price for an iPhone X 256GB, and it is only $540.

Based on that, if you have an older model, you may get more cash at the telcos. But for the newer ones, Apple’s trade-in prices are probably better.
